Mikael Frisell appointed the position of Director General of the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency on 1 November 2024.
Before joining the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency, Mikael served as Chief of Staff and Deputy Director of Armament for Sweden at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV).
Mikael has had a long career in the Swedish Armed Forces and was promoted to Major General in 2022. He has served as Military Advisor to two Supreme Commanders and as Chief of Staff of the Nordic Battle Group. Previously, he also served as Commander of the Norrbotten Regiment and as Military Region Commander for the Northern Military Region.
Mikael has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Sciences since 2021.
