Kalle Kilk has been the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Elering, the Estonian electricity and gas transmission system operator, since July 2023.
Kalle's career at Elering began in 1998. In 2007, he was appointed as a member of the management board responsible for the area of asset management, a position he held until being elected as the Chairman. Kalle holds a PhD in Power Engineering and Geotechnology from Tallinn University of Technology.
Under Kalle’s leadership, the project to disconnect the Baltic electricity system from the Russian grid and to synchronize it with the Continental European frequency area was successfully completed in Estonia in February 2025, after more than a decade of work.
In 2025, Kalle was awarded Finland’s high decoration – Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland – in recognition of his contribution to Estonia’s energy sector and the strengthening of Finnish-Estonian relations.
